CHARITY HOSTEL PREMISES......

Internal demolition and asbestos removal at a charity hostel premises.

"Play a vital role in this project"

A large hostel for a major charitable organisation in Birmingham, underwent a substantial refurbishment programme in 2002. We were sub-contracted by a large building contractor to play a vital role in this project. We were commissioned to undertake the preparation works necessary for the start of the refurbishment works. This also meant we would set the pace for other contractors and thus the whole project to meet completion schedules.

"We have gained a lot of experience"

The six month course of work was carefully co-ordinated to ensure a smooth transition. The programme of works undertaken by ourselves was initially to carry out a ‘strip-out’ of all internal fixings throughout. The asbestos removal works consisted of the removal of floor tiles, asbestos insulation boarding and externally sited asbestos materials throughout. The end result was to leave the building as an empty shell ready for the planned refurbishment works.
We are proud of our involvement towards the newly refurbished building. We have gained a lot of experience in playing such a large role in a major project, which has been of great benefit to us in organising other similar projects which we have since undertaken.
