Asbestos Work Processes

"The safe removal of asbestos has to be thoroughly planned and proactively managed so we ensure all work with ACM’s will be undertaken with a view to minimising the release and spread of asbestos fibres into the atmosphere in compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regs 2012."

Before any work is carried out we will take an account of building plans and use any relevant information available. In some cases an inspection of the premises will have to be made.

If applicable we will make formal written notifications to the enforcing authority at least fourteen days before work is due to commence. This is an absolute obligation.

Everything is documented within a detailed Method Statement designed to ensure a suitable assessment is created with significant findings recorded. All documentation is site specific and relevant to the scope of works.

Where it is has been determined that there is a possibility of the spread of asbestos and where it is reasonably practicable to do so, an enclosure will be formed, either by the use of the structure or fabric of the building, or by a temporary construction. We will provide all materials needed for the construction of such an enclosure.

Provision of all necessary control measures (plant and equipment) with full and proper use of any relevant control measures used.

All plant and equipment used by our employee’s is thoroughly examined and tested at suitable intervals by competent technicians.

Our employees are trained at regular intervals in accordance with that specified in current regulations.  Training will be undertaken by an approved external organisation who are members of UKATA (United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association).

Where applicable an independent UKAS accredited analyst will be appointed to carry out necessary air monitoring and visual inspections.  Where applicable a site clearance certificate will be issued by an independent UKAS accredited analyst upon satisfactory assessment of the four stages of clearance as follows:

Stage 1:    Preliminary check of site condition and job completeness
Stage 2:    Thorough visual inspection
Stage 3:    Clearance air monitoring
