.................................................................................................

BACKGROUND

The client was a London-based design and building company that appointed us to carry out asbestos removal works at a site in London. The challenge was ensuring the safe removal of hazardous materials in a building under active use, where safeguarding staff and complying with health regulations were top priorities.

SOLUTION

We were required to construct and fully set up a working enclosure to meet health and safety regulations, ensuring everyone in the building remained safe during the project. The work involved removing asbestos insulation boards and limpet sprayed on the steel columns, as well as the contaminated brickwork surrounding the columns. A total of five structural support columns were treated, with all contaminated materials removed and handled as asbestos waste.

RESULT

The project was completed within three weeks, following a 14-day notification period to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). After successful asbestos removal, the area was returned to the client with a four-stage UKAS-accredited certification provided by an independent analytical company, confirming the site’s safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
